Dean of Student and Community Engagement
First review of applications June 27, 2022 -Mohave Community College is seeking a dynamic, student-focused,
collaborative, leader for the position of Dean of Student and
Community Engagement for the Bullhead City Campus. This position is
part of a team responsible for curating a welcoming community that
reflects MCC's commitment to student belonging and empowerment and
leadership in the creation, development, design, and implementation
of a plan to identify and cultivate viable community partners,
including local business, industry, government, and K-12 leaders.
- The Dean assigned to the Bullhead City campus will be
critical in the development and support of new student life
functions: student housing/residence life and athletics (men's and
women's soccer). -

Typical Duties:
Student Life:

Participates in the development and supervision of student
housing/residence life offerings including the assignment, billing,
and other administrative components related to the master-lease
agreement for off-campus student apartments. -Work closely
with Facilities to ensure appropriate maintenance and cleaning
operations are established. -
Provides local campus support for athletic programs, including
participation in athletic booster club, supporting student-athletes
and MCC athletics staff, and monitoring particular student-athlete
and curricular/co-curricular policies and procedures.
Oversees and collaborates with student government, student
clubs and other campus programs to facilitate positive and
beneficial experiences for students, providing students with
quality programs, events, services and activities that promote
academic, personal, and professional growth within and beyond the
Identifies and implements student leadership training
initiatives. -
Trains and communicates with club advisors, creates club
handbooks, and monitors and ensures compliance with policies and
procedures related to clubs.
Maintains current knowledge of laws and policies effecting
student conduct administration.
Educates students about behavioral expectations, college
policies and procedures, and appropriate conflict resolution
Conducts prompt, impartial and thorough investigations and
adjudicates student conduct matters and ensures a fair and neutral
process for all students. Serves as primary administrator of
appeals on assigned campus and provides referrals as required by
College policies and procedures. -
Develops relationships and collaborates with faculty and
instructional division staff to ensure that the programs and
services of the office strongly support student learning and build
community between faculty, staff and students.
Coordinates and facilitates campus-wide events and training
activities to increase multi-cultural awareness, build environments
that are inclusive, promote equity, and deepen awareness of self
and others.
In collaboration with the Dean of Enrollment and Student
Services, assists in all student orientation programs and provide a
welcoming environment for new students and guests.
Collaborates with campus partners in the creation of service
learning offerings and opportunities for civic engagement through
Campus Compact and college-wide strategic initiatives.
Focuses activities and training on serving underrepresented
student populations and providing student life initiatives designed
to increase student success for all students. -Requires
constant involvement with all guided pathway endeavors and open
communications with student success and instruction functions.
Develops, leads, and supports programmatic initiatives that are
fitting of the College's status as a Hispanic Serving Institution
(HSI). -

Community Engagement:

As a member of the president's community engagement team,
serves as the principal spokesperson and point of contact, meeting
with leaders of community government, K-12 education, and
businesses organizations to facilitate strategic partnerships.
Develops effective initiatives to advance institutional
community and civic engagement.
Recommends, develops and oversees community engagement and
events, adhering to the cultural and civic components of the
Strategic Plan.
Works closely with the MCC Advancement team to build campus
specific foundation membership and provide local college
representation on all foundation related activities.
Creates monthly campus-wide community engagement newsletter to
showcase faculty, staff and student engagement in various community
events and activities.
Participates in all college-wide fundraising
activities. -
Serves on various community social organizations and boards to
build strong connections between the College and the
community. -
Assists Associate Deans, Program Directors, Deans, and other
College leaders in maintaining and building new relationships with
all local industry, business, government, education, county,
chamber, and economic development leaders to help improve program
delivery and meet the workforce needs of their community. -
Involves connecting key stakeholders to help build a talent
pipeline in their communities and help MCC reach Achieve60 AZ goals
of 60% attainment. -

Campus Operations:

Works directly with the Director of Facilities Management and
the campus Facilities Manager/Coordinator to assist in monitoring
all facilities on campus and provide feedback in all related master
planning activities. -
Serves as the main contact for all facilities use requests from
both internal and external audiences. Approves all requests and
follows all facilities use policies and procedures, regularly
communicating with facilities staff regarding room set-up and
Works closely with the other campus SCE Deans, Director of
Facilities Management, and Crisis Management and Response Committee
personnel to oversee, manage, update, and, when necessary,
implement the campus crisis management plan. - Facilitates
crisis management drills and training of all campus personnel and
members of the campus crisis management team.
Provides oversight, leadership and direction for on-campus food
services, including vending options.
Serves the College by providing college-wide and campus-wide
leadership in all assigned aspects of the strategic plan. -
This may require college-wide committee oversight, annual
reporting, and monitoring associated metrics of any one particular
core objective or main strategy.
Establishes and maintains a positive campus culture,
implementing principles of ethical consideration in all dealings
and modeling a teamwork attitude in all interpersonal relations;
supports a culture of customer service by promoting the concepts of
the Circle of Care philosophies. Works directly with Human
Resources on all training needs.
Oversees campus-based activities and use of facilities and/or
campus equipment by students, staff or the public. In conjunction
with facilities manager/coordinator, ensures facilities are
maintained in a clean condition, both internally and externally,
for public use.
Acts as liaison for students, staff and the public with other
college departments, make referrals as necessary
Oversees campus specific communication councils to ensure all
functions of the campus are communicating various events, concerns,
and policy or procedural changes. -
Attends campus-wide and college-wide meetings and serves on
task forces and committees as assigned, to include required college
In conjunction with Student Services, supports all efforts
associated with recruitment and marketing to ensure enrollment
growth. -This may include participation in various enrollment
specific committees associated with recruitment and retention.
Serves as a member of the President's Cabinet. -
Adheres to college, federal and state administrative
procedures, guidelines, initiatives, and directives to ensure
compliance with all relevant regulations affecting college
Performs other tasks of a similar nature or level as

Graduate Degree from an accredited institution.
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible administrative
Any equivalent combination of education, training and
experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the


Doctorate degree from an accredited institution.
Administrative experience in a higher education setting.
Direct or indirect supervisory experience in residence life,
student life and activities, athletics, and/or multicultural
student affairs. -
