Job Description:
Job Description Job Summary and Responsibilities Provides basic
level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital
signs, documents chief complaint and all actions taken. Alerts
physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with
obtaining patient history, assists physicians and residents and/or
licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures,
sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor
procedures, prepares and may include administrating medications
(excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab
specimen and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. In
addition to the above, the Medical Assistant II functions more
independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary.
Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics).
Conducts front desk duties such as registration, check-in and
scheduling of patients. - Maintains hospital standards of zero
tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory
specimens according to hospital protocol - Assists the
nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as
requested - Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies - Assists in
patient/equipment preparation - Performs follow-up actions as
directed - Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's
record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols -
Records readings in an accurate and timely manner Job Requirements
Required High School Diploma/GED Medical Assistant Cerification or
Completion of a US Armed Forces medical services training program
Computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients
Basic Life Support - CPR Preferred Previous Medical Assistant
Experience and Electronic Medical Record EMR experience and
