Opportunities And much more--- Position Summary Intensive Care RN
delivers care to patients using the nursing process of assessment,
planning, implementation and evaluation. Provide care to acutely
and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing
monitoring environment. Delivers extensive medication protocols and
therapies. Faces the additional responsibility for the emotional
and psychosocial health of the patient, family and significant
others. Practices within the limits of the Arizona State Nurse
Practice Act and the Valley View Medical Center's Policies and
Procedures. Performs plan of care intervention, including
medication administration, specimen collection, clinical
treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Ensures
patient confidentiality and has a clear understanding of the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Understands
and carries out Lifepoint Health Patient's Rights and
Responsibilities. Monitors, records, and communicates patient
condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and
family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily
living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and
ambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate
patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and
spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of
patient and/or family and provides patient/family education
appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Provides
nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
Keeps patients under close observation and administers prescribed
medications and treatments. Provides assistance to the physician or
other medical personnel in the assessment of patients and delivery
of treatment, medications, labs, radiology reports and other life
support equipment necessary. Coordinates the delivery of patient
care on the Unit, including admission, transfer and discharge
processes. Completes required documentation including all medical
charts and care-related notes using the written and Electronic
Health Record (EHR). Participates in patient/family teaching and
discharge planning, effectively utilizing the Nursing Process.
Provides leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with
physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support
personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing
practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting. Provides the
basic leadership required of a Registered Nurse for subordinate
staff on the Unit. Maintains quality delivery of patient care by
completing patient assignments in compliance with the Nursing
Process, the Arizona Nurse Practice Act, THE JOINT COMMISSION (TJC)
and State regulations and established Hospital Policies and
Procedures. Strives to consistently give all patients, family
members and others served positive, supportive interactions based
on Valley View Medical Centers' Standards of Behavior. Other duties
as assigned and required in the operation of the hospital. Float

Associate's degree ? Preferred X Required X Graduate of an
accredited school of Nursing with a current license in the state
practicing. X Bachelor's degree X Preferred ? Required Minimum Work
Experience One (1) year of Critical Care Experience Preferred X
Must have hemodynamic monitoring experience Required Licenses
[Arizona, United States] Registered Nurse Valid/Current Arizona
Registered Nurse Licensure Required or Valid/Current Compact State
Registered Nurse Licensure Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)
Preferred Required Skills Certifications: X Advanced Cardiovascular
Life Support (ACLS) (American Heart Association) X REQUIRED if
employee has ACLS, BLS is not required. Competency/Training: X APEX
Innovations assigned and completed within 90 Days of Hire and
annually for VVMC Employees X NIH Stroke Scale completed within 90
days of hire and annually thereafter X EKG Exam given at hire.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the
ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a
